BEATEN boss Lee Clark was left “angry, disappointed and embarrassed” by Blackpool’s 6-1 humbling – but still hailed Cherries as “the best team in the league”.

Clark, who had previously presided over just two defeats in seven Championship matches since taking over the rock-bottom Tangerines, also apologised to supporters and shouldered the blame for his side's tactical approach.

Clark said: “It was just an awful, horrendous day for everybody.

“I would like to personally apologise to the supporters for the result and performance on behalf of myself, the staff and the players.

“In the first half I think we got the tactics a little bit wrong. We pressed them a little bit higher early in the second half and had a good spell for 15 minutes but shot ourselves in the foot with the standard of goals we gave away.

“Of course I am angry, disappointed and embarrassed and I think the players are as well. We now have to do the right things with them in terms of how we analyse the game.”

Sharing his opinion on Cherries, Clark added: “Even before last week I said that they were best team in the league and thought they did really well on Wednesday against Liverpool.

“What I like about them is not only do they have brave players but also a tremendous work ethic – I saw their winger track back and take the ball off (Blackpool's) Jacob Murphy in the 85th minute.

“If you add those attributes together, coupled with a management team who are doing very well, you can see why they are top of the league.”
