CHERRIES hotshot Callum Wilson is desperate not to miss another chance to face one of English football’s leading lights.

Wilson was part of the Coventry side that last season earned an FA Cup fourth-round trip to Premier League Arsenal.

The frontman featured in wins over lower opposition AFC Wimbledon and Hartlepool United and scored against the Dons at Kingsmeadow.

However, a dislocated shoulder sustained in a League One win at Rotherham on New Year’s Day put paid to Wilson’s chances of facing Barnsley in round three, and subsequently the 4-0 loss at the Emirates at the end of January.

And the 22-year-old striker does not want to miss a minute when Cherries clash with 18-time top-flight champions Liverpool in the League Cup quarter-final tonight (7.45pm).

Wilson told the Daily Echo: “When Coventry played Arsenal, I was injured so, of course, it was disappointing to miss the game but it was one of those things.

“I dislocated my shoulder in January and we played them a few weeks later so, unfortunately, I didn’t get to feature.

“Any player relishes playing against a Premier League side because you are going to be playing against quality players.

“Liverpool play in the top-flight week in, week out so it’s going to be a great test for us but it’s also a great opportunity to showcase our talents.

“We are going to be up for it. It’s the quarter-finals so it’s a chance to make even more history for the club.

“I was delighted to come on and get a goal against West Brom in the last round and, hopefully, I can score again this time.”

Wilson’s substitute outing against the Baggies was the only appearance of his career against top-flight opposition.

He came off the bench in the 69th minute and, after a Tommy Elphick own goal had levelled matters, struck the winner four minutes from time.
