WOLVES manager Kenny Jackett hit out at referee Mike Jones after seeing his nine-man side slump to a fifth successive Championship defeat at the hands of Cherries.

Jackett’s side were leading through Danny Graham’s 41st-minute strike before Jones controversially sent off Rajiv van La Parra after an aerial clash with Steve Cook in the 59th minute.

Cherries made their extra man pay thanks to goals from Harry Arter and Matt Ritchie before Wolves left-back Matt Doherty saw red in injury time for a challenge on Brett Pitman.

Wolves chairman Steve Morgan was so incensed by the display of Jones that he made his way to the side of the pitch to remonstrate with the whistler at the end of the game.

Jackett felt both red cards were wrong and confirmed that the club will appeal the two dismissals He said: “The first sending-off was a turning point. The information that I have got from the officials is that he led with his elbow and because of that it was a red card.

“I don’t think that he did lead with his elbow. I thought it was head-to-head and perhaps a booking for a mistimed challenge. But I didn’t think it was a red card.”

He added: “The second sending off I felt was equally harsh. I felt that Matt won the ball with his front foot and his second leg was passive.

“I didn’t think either decision was right. That was my first view and my view after seeing them on video.

“I felt that Rajiv’s was head-to-head and he was definitely going for the ball and the reason the officials gave it was that he led with his elbow. That wasn’t the case. He made contact with the player with his head.

“We will appeal. You are allowed to appeal and on both fronts we will appeal. I do think that we have a case.”

As for the post-match intervention of a fuming Morgan, Jackett added: “I have been told about that but I didn’t see it. I am sure he wanted an explanation and wanted to talk about the incidents that happened and affected the game.”
