PROMOTER Matt Ford picked up an award on behalf of Poole Pirates as the all-party parliamentary group for speedway held its end-of-season reception.

The likes of Ford, Swindon boss Alun Rossiter and 2013 world champion Tai Woffinden were among 150 guests that turned out at the Terrace Pavilion at the Palace of Westminster.

The event was held for the second year in succession and for the first time, awards were presented to recognise achievements in the Elite League, Premier League and National League.

Ford, Edinburgh chief John Campbell and National League coordinator Peter Morrish were all involved in presentations.

The Travis Perkins achievement award – named after the event sponsors – went to Woffinden in recognition of his 2014 world championship efforts and fundraising work on behalf of Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Officials from the all-party parliamentary group were joined by fellow MPs who mingled with officials, riders, sponsors, journalists and invited guests from across the speedway world.
