CHERRIES midfielder Eunan O’Kane is keen to restore his passing radar to its former glory after admitting to certain deficiencies in his recent performances.

The 24-year-old has started eight of Cherries’ 10 Championship games this season and has established himself as one of boss Eddie Howe’s most trusted performers.

However, the former Republic of Ireland under-21 international insists his passing efforts have been lacking and is desperate to rectify the situation as soon as possible.

O’Kane told the Daily Echo: “I’m not entirely happy with myself and my performances.

“In terms of the role I played in front of the back four, I did well on the dirty side of it, which is part of the reason why I was there, but I think I could have been better on the ball and could have added more to the team with the ball.

“I couldn’t give you a reason why I’ve been a little bit below-par in that aspect of my game.

“It’s something I’m certainly not happy with and I’m doing everything to get back to the levels that myself and the manager expect.”

O’Kane is in contention to take his place in the Cherries side that clashes with Bolton at the Macron Stadium on Saturday (3pm).

The Trotters might be struggling at the wrong end of the Championship table with just one win in their opening 10 league games, but O’Kane is wary of the psychological impact that such a run can have.

And he revealed that Cherries would not expect an easy ride in the north west, with their hosts desperate for priceless points.

He continued: “Bolton aren’t doing as well as the club and the fans would expect and that can be a hindrance but it could also provide a little bit of motivation to kick-start their season.

“We certainly won’t go there underestimating them and expecting to win.

“We will go prepared to give another good performance and, hopefully, we will come away with three points.

“Everywhere is a challenge and a test and to go to the Macron Stadium and get a win, you have to work hard for it and that’s what we intend to do.”
