ROTHERHAM boss Steve Evans felt “a real shape and structure” had been pivotal in helping the Millers claim a share of the points at Dean Court on Saturday.

The visitors stunned the hosts when substitute Jordan Bowery popped up in added time to head home a Paul Taylor corner to cancel out Steve Cook’s opener for Cherries.

Evans told the Rotherham official website: “Bournemouth are a fantastic team and we knew we would have to try to restrict them.

“We said to the players that, at 70 minutes, we would have a different strategy, with a different game plan and different personnel and we almost got to that point.

“Unfortunately, we switched off and, if you switch off at this level, you give them a chance and they put it away.

“I thought we created good chances. Matt Derbyshire came on and looked lively for the last 20 minutes and we looked like scoring. When you score as late as that you are always pleased.

“There is no team in the Championship that will come here and have possession. We knew at times that we wouldn’t have a lot of the ball so we had to have a real shape and structure about our team.

“I thought we had that and, when you see Bournemouth forced into playing long balls from the back then you know that you have got your shape and your team right.”
