SHEFFIELD Wednesday boss Stuart Gray has warned his players to be wary of the threat posed by Lewis Grabban when they visit Dean Court today.

Grabban surpassed Luther Blissett’s second-tier goalscoring record on his way to 20 goals this term and Gray is adamant his team must nullify the strengths of the Cherries striker.

He said: “He doesn’t get involved in the build-up play, but he puts fear into defenders. If he’s got grass to go into, he can travel with the ball.

“He’s had an unbelievable season and is one we’ve got to keep quiet. We have to work the other way because if we keep going deep, we will play into his hands. I want my back four to be aggressive with him and make sure we keep him quiet.

“Some of our defending has been poor and we’ve conceded 12 in the past four games. We’re scoring goals but we’ve got to get back to being harder to beat.

“We start with a clean sheet at Bournemouth. Hopefully we’ll come away with a clean sheet.”

Gray is unsure if Cherries have what it takes to make the Championship play-offs but believes it is an open race.

He added: "Will Bournemouth make the play-offs? Who knows?

There are four games to go and Bournemouth, Brighton, Ipswich, Reading are all pushing.

"Nobody seems to want to cement themselves in that sixth spot. Whether Eddie Howe has got the quality he wants to get into the play-offs we’ll have to wait and see but we just want to spoil their party.”
