BOSS Eddie Howe insists Cherries will pull out all the stops to continue their fine form as they eye a potential FA Cup trip to Macclesfield Town.

Cherries will face the non-league outfit at Moss Rose if they get past Wigan Athletic in their third round replay.

Howe’s men drew 1-1 with the Latics at DW Stadium yesterday and they will host the Premier League club for a re-run on January 15, subject to potential TV coverage.

Macclesfield reached the fourth round after producing a giant-killing to see off Championship leaders Cardiff City yesterday.

But the tie would also present Cherries with a good opportunity of reaching the fifth round of the famous knockout competition.

Howe, who is refusing to look too far ahead with Wigan still to beat, says his focus remains on helping Cherries build on the mentality which has underpinned their 17-match unbeaten run.

He told the Daily Echo: “We must be mindful that we have still got a tough task ahead of us if we are to earn a trip to Macclesfield. Wigan are a Premier League club with some excellent players and we are expecting a stern challenge against them in the replay.

“Everybody wants a home tie in the FA Cup and the past two draws have not been kind to us in terms of distance. Macclesfield would be another long trip for our supporters but, of course, we would love to have to make it.

“They produced a very good result to knock out Cardiff in the third round yesterday.

“But we are now 17 matches unbeaten and are determined to continue building a winning mentality. The players have been magnificent and I can only praise them for their performances.”

Cherries will spend the next week preparing to host League One promotion rivals Swindon Town on Saturday.

Howe added: “For the upcoming week, our focus will be very much on facing Swindon in the league and aiming to carry on our form. We will be doing everything possible to ensure our run continues.”

The draw was conducted this afternoon by goalkeeping legends David Seaman and Dave Beasant. The fourth round ties are due to be played on the weekend of January 26/27.
