Cherries: Howe named manager of the month

CHERRIES boss Eddie Howe maintained his focus on a "vital" festive schedule after today being named League One manager of the month for November.

News of the Cherries boss’s accolade was exclusively revealed by the Daily Echo via Twitter just after 7am this morning before being confirmed by Sky Sports News at 8.45am.

Howe has led Cherries to 12 matches unbeaten since his return to the club in October, while the Dorset side have also reached the third round of the FA Cup.

Cherries continued their form under Howe last month as they registered three league wins and two draws, as well as a cup victory.

Howe fended off competition for the award from MK Dons manager Karl Robinson and Brentford’s Uwe Rosler. The duo had claimed five wins and two draws with their respective clubs during November.

Howe told Sky Sports: “This is all down to the team.

“Ever since we have come back in, the players have been excellent as has the staff around me, and the supporters have also more than played their part in that run we have been on.

“(Christmas) is a very vital time for us. We have got a lot of games as have the other teams but we are still in catch-up mode at the moment. We have still got a lot of work to do to get up to the top two and the top six, so these games will be pivotal against our rivals at the top end of the table.”

Well deserved of course and I hope in due time the Manager of the Season. It sounds as if Eddie is looking to bring in a couple of defenders next month to add balance to the squad, it will be interesting to see who goes out

Could anyone ever imagine Groves & Brooks winning this award?
Well done EH & JT & the team. Keep it going.
I hear Jason Pearce could be on his way back. Not settled up north where it's terribly grim. Hope this rumour is true!

Terrible news about the award, although completely deserved. The curse will carry on forever! I'm having a tenner on Colchester to win.
Grandson's first game tomorrow. Really hope it's a good day for us.

Totally deserved and long overdue for the duo.
It's not the 'poisoned chalice' some would believe.
I hope it will only encourage the team to play even better.
Well done to everyone concerned.

Forget the curse, lets just tear colchester apart tomorrow. The players need to go out & show the rest of the league just why our Eddie is worthy of this award & many more to follow.

I will be wearing my luck 'cherry-pants' tommorrow to keep the 'curse' at bay!!!

Here's to overtaking Swindon tommorrow (get in Oldham!), 3 points boyz if you pleeeeeeeze!!!! UTC!

Don't worry chaps. The motm award will not be the kiss of death. I've backed Colchester @ 5/1 and having willingly sacrificed a fiver every game by backing the opposition since Eddie came back, I anticipate ( and hope to be) being a fiver poorer come 16.45 on Saturday. It's insurance - you don't want to use it, but it lessens the blow if you do.

Nice one TMCP, but I think you might have to get in touch with Ted Mac himself, so you can wear his cherry pants over the top. Here's to beating the curse tomorrow and bagging another 3 points. We are due to give someone a good spanking, so a clean sheet and 3 or 4 goals would be agood afternoons work. Well done Eddie on winning L1 manager of the month, hope to see another one before the season ends.

No, ColU have scored 9 away from home as Hartlepool have only scored 7, one against us to earn a draw in mid-September ... ah, how times have changed!

Still expect a hard game tomorrow ... ColU are a bogey side for us, they have players out so those picked will have a point to prove and they will be keen to improve on their recent record of 5 defeats from the past 6 games.

Winnable tho, hopefully a big crowd but I guess many occasional attendees will be Christmas shopping.

Finally, well done Eddie Howe and all involved on the achievement, hopefully the first of many with AFCB.

UP THE CHERRIES!!!

Yes - Agree with the previous post. This a terrible award to receive in view of the persistant curse !!!
.
However, well deserved as an award within itself.
.
In view of the curse and the fact that Pugh and Arter are unlikly to play. My PREDICTION for tomorrow is a 1-1 draw.
.
The worst thing we could do is let them score first, then we will really be in trouble and up '**** Strasse'. As thy wll then just sit back and defend and we will not have enough to open them up with the current injuries etc.
.
I have said before that when we do lose it will be aginst someone you least expect i.e. a struggling side. If we had lost Grabben and MacDonald last week as pre-mach reports indicated, we would have come away from Scunny with far less I am sure.
.
The longer the unbeaten run goes on the more we will be setting ourselves up as a target to beat, not that I am against us getting persistant results of course. It is all about how we react when we do lose. Hopefully we will dust ourselves down and get on with it. But often it does'nt. But I am sure Ed will have the wisdom to pick the players up after a defeat..

Regards

Although still picking up points, we're not scoring as freely as we could be. Let's rekickstart this run and get a big home win against a poor side. Pitman, McQuoid to get some goals please

Bournmouth fans you have no fear regards tommorows game . Though I now live in Southampton I travel up to Essex for most home games to watch my team that i've supported 58 years. Having lost two good loan players through injury that we had from Arsenal and having 3 players on suspensions ,plus a couple of injuries we now look a very dejected and poor team. If you put in any high crosses, our goalkeeper will just flap at them and miss them completely. The full backs are so slow,I could walk quicker. We only have one centre back available and the defenders can only pass sideways. If Clinton Morrison plays up front then you will think its a cart horse running around. We do not have a winger on the books so your full backs will have no one to mark and can push forwards when they want.. Overall a shambolic state of afairs caused by one man John Ward the previous manager. Ive watched the cherries a few times this season and I dread tommorow because I think my team will get a pasting. I'm very envious in you having such a good manager and the way you play football. May the best team win tommorow.
