Cherries: Arter signs new contract

Cherries have rewarded Harry Arter for his fine form by handing him a new contract.

The Dorset outfit tonight confirmed that midfielder Arter had committed his future to Cherries by penning a deal until the summer of 2015, with the option for a further 12 months in the club’s favour.

Restored to the starting line-up by Eddie Howe, Arter scored in Cherries’ win against Tranmere on Saturday before following up with another goal in the midweek draw at Notts County.

Meanwhile, Cherries have appointed former Gillingham coach John Yems as football operations and recruitment manager.

I'd want to see a far higher consistency rate from Arter before giving him an improved contract. He's been bloody awful at times this season, every effort should be in signing Pugh, a player who makes things happen.

Great news, agree a little more consistency required, but that goes for a lot of players but for some reason Harry seems to get singled out more than the others, I've said it before but I think he is often made the scapegoat when the whole team plays poorly, maybe that's because we know what a really good player he is when on form. Eddie will certainly give him the encouragement to play the right way in dangerous areas, think he will get a fair few goals this season too

Cherries striker Wes Thomas has returned to Goldsands Stadium after scoring three goals during a successful loan spell at Portsmouth. Thomas is expected to be in contention to face Dagenham & Redbridge in the FA Cup next Saturday.
