Cliff make it two out of two
IN-FORM Boscombe Cliff, oozing confidence, made it two wins out of two in Section One when they took all 14 points against Southbourne (98-53).
Ron Sparks, Colin King, Mark Warren and Alan Geary starred (28-10) and were strongly supported by Russell Morgan's rink of Graham Matthews, Tony Gabb and Chris Daniels (27-12).
Keeping the Cliff in their sights are the Poole duo of Poole Park (11-3) and Alexandra Park (12-2). The latter gained their second away victory in a row when overcoming Ringwood 74-81.
Poole Park were well in control at Knyveton Gardens (85-67), but their hard work was held in check when Martin Brierley's rink wiped out a 9-20 deficit after 15 ends and triumphed 22-20.
Wimborne and Branksome Park (84-71) shared rinks but not the points (10-4), while Bournemouth overcame Lymington 90-67.
SECTION TWO
ELECTRIC short-circuited against visitors West Moors, tripping out on all four rinks 60-108.
Peter Langford, Dave Dixon, Charles Morris and Ray Hunt (32-7) were ably assisted by Tom Downes, Dave Hockaday, Bill Bedford and John Niblock (30-18) after leading the demolition.
Fordingbridge made it two in a row when scooping three rinks against Iford Bridge (89-69).
In comparison, Braeside suffered their second defeat when going down 65-97 at New Milton.
Wessex won three rinks against Boscombe Cliff A but the Cliff walked away with eight points (79-76).
Meanwhile, Pelhams returned home with just two points in an 80-65 reverse at Branksome Park.
SECTION THREE
CHRISTCHURCH suffered their second two-shot defeat in a row when going down to near neighbours Highcliffe 70-72.
Richard Reekes, Bob Holt, Brian Graham and John Bishop (25-18) must have felt that they had done enough for the Priorites, but they were covered by Mike Rice, Bill Berry, Ken Wright and Stan Patch (27-14) as Highcliffe retreated down the bypass with 10 points.
Argyll visited Swanage and slipped back on to the ferry with 12 points (100-74), while Richmond Park's 100 per cent record was kept intact with a 12-point haul over Wessex A (90-59).
Southbourne (76-71) and Kings Park (79-72) also maintained their unbeaten starts by overcoming Redhill Park and Moordown respectively.
SECTION FOUR
WIMBORNE maintained their unbeaten record by trouncing Poole Park B 100-59, while Poole Park A encountered stiffer opposition from Knyveton Gardens (68-61).
Poole's rink of Roger Tidby, John Mullins, Ken Harding and John Potter (18-11) contributed to a 12-point haul, while West Moors replicated those match-winning margins against neighbours Ferndown (77-70).
Milford returned from Swanmore with four points (95-61) and New Milton continued their losing start by going down at Braeside 96-75.
SECTION FIVE
BOSCOMBE Cliff picked up 12 points against Ringwood (89-77).
Cliff's outstanding rink was Bill Ashworth, Gary Warburton, John Smith and Derek Francis (29-15), while Foresters skip Richard Thompson outgunned his opponent 27-8.
Richmond Park scrapped hard for their 10 points at Pelhams (73-72), while Knyveton Gardens took a single shot (75-74) victory over Kings Park.
Graham Davis's rink (32-9) steered Highcliffe to their 12-pointer (91-69) over Bournemouth and after a close encounter with Redhill Park (66-63), Southbourne went home with 10 points in the bag.
SECTION SIX
AFTER two weeks, West Moors' three teams have won all six of their league encounters.
The icing on the cake was a hot-shot by Mike Tite, Bernard Brogan, Sid Chandler and John Halford (45-7) for West Moors B when overcoming Southbourne 111-40 at Seafield Gardens.
Swanmore's visit to the Minster, meanwhile, proved fruitful when they collected 11 points (98-63).
There was an avalanche on the West Cliff when Argyll trounced Branksome Park 92-55 for 12 points, while Lymington are still unbeaten after winning on three rinks at home to New Milton (72-66).
Iford Bridge, meanwhile, won 82-77 to take 10 points at Ferndown.
