A Royal appointment for New Star


UNBEATEN Premier Division outfit Christchurch Royals inflicted a first league defeat of the season on rivals New Star United.

Dale Simpson was the Priory hero with a hat-trick in the 3-1 victory, with Mark Dykes replying for New Star.

• Joscelyne Builders have the Division Three leaders in their sights after nailing struggling JS Bournemouth Sports 5-0 with goals from Mark Rourke (2), Matt Joscelyne, Josh Corbin and Dan Gifford.

• Shoulder of Mutton need just six points from their six remaining games to clinch the Division Four title after Jamie Moores and Sam Goodwin gave them the edge 2-1 against third-placed AC FC. Robbie Cook was the AC FC scorer.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, AFC Westvale hauled themselves off the bottom when they surprised Aspect 5-1 thanks to Andy Gosling’s hat-trick and further goals from Richard Lavell and Matt Newman.

• Verwood SSC are four points clear at the top of Division Six after Chris Wright (2) and Shaun Daniels gave them the verdict 3-2 against Greenfields WMF. Simon Mole and Daryl Whitbread were on target for the losing side.

Rounders moved up to fourth place after trouncing Wessex Wanderers 8-1 through Ben Aldous (2), George Knijff (2), George Goldie and a Richard Hearn hat-trick. Simon Hyde scored Wanderers’ consolation goal.

Carl Douglas struck twice in Ace Fabrication’s 6-0 triumph over Canford Rangers, with Martyn MacKinlay, Phil King, Tom Craven and Paul Colla adding one each.

• Talbot United are just two points adrift of Division Eight pacesetters Rockbourne after Jason Peters, Mark Stuart |and James Tipler gave them a 3-1 success against James & James, who replied through Mike Hills.

Karl Brown notched a hat-trick when third-placed AS Muscliff gave Pottery United a 5-1 drubbing. Lukas Brown and Matt Whitcher were the other Muscliff marksmen, with Murray Wyness scoring for United.

Dan Shelley and Greg Nolan netted for Priory Quays reserves, but Riva emerged victorious 4-2 thanks to Artur Kocikowski (2), Ian McCubbin and Jaroslaw Rynkiewicz.

• Will Shaylor was the four-goal star when AFC Leigham Vale reserves hammered JP Morgan 8-0 to move up to third place in Division Nine.

Sky Sports News reporter Mark McAdam (2), Bobby Dillon and Robbie Callaghan were the other Vale marksmen, while LV FC reserves were 2-0 winners against Boscombe Celtic reserves thanks to Matt Clegg’s stunning 35-yard blast and an own goal.

• All other league and cup games were postponed due to the wet conditions.

• Division Seven rivals LV FC and Sunseekers clash in the MA Hart Nicholas Read Cup final at Hurn Bridge on Thursday (7.30pm).
