NEIL Middleditch last night hailed “hero” Ludvig Lindgren after the rapid reserve had powered Pirates back to the Elite League summit.
Lindgren turned on the style to rack up a 10 paid 11-point effort as Poole saw off Lakeside in Essex.
Team manager Middleditch lavished praise on the 21-year-old as Pirates claimed maximum league points thanks to a 48-41 away victory.
Comfortable home winners against the Hammers on Wednesday, Poole made it a double to leapfrog rivals Swindon at the top of the table.
Middleditch told the Daily Echo: “Ludvig Lindgren had a blinding meeting.
“It was a good performance from the main boys but Ludvig was the key factor and the hero of the day.
“He would have had 12+2 but he blew his engine in his last ride.
“Chris Holder , Krzysztof Kasprzak and Darcy Ward can’t do it on their own and they need back up. Ludvig certainly provided that.”
While Lind-gren’s hefty haul from reserve proved invaluable, British Grand Prix runner-up Kasprzak continued his sparkling form by registering 17 points. Only beaten in his final race, Kasprzak recorded five wins from his six outings.
Ward (12+1) again more than played his part to ensure that a night to forget for Ricky Kling (1) and Linus Eklof (1) did not prove costly.
Middleditch added: “We needed that result. It was a must-win situation and nothing but a win would have done.
“It was a great result and I am really pleased.”
Hammers 41: Davey Watt (2-2-3-2-0) 9, Kauko Nieminen (1*-2-0-1*-1) 5+2, Kim Nilsson (0-1-2-0-0) 3, Peter Karlsson (2-3-2-3-2-3) 15, Rider Replacement for Jonas Davidsson, Justin Sedgman (2-1*-1-1-1*) 6+2, Robert Mear (0-1*-2-r) 3+1.
Pirates 48: Chris Holder (3-2-2-exc) 7, Ricky Kling (0-1-0-0-0) 1, Darcy Ward (3-3-2-3-1*) 12+1, Rider Replacement for Dennis Andersson, Krzysztof Kasprzak (3-3-3-3-3-2) 17, Ludvig Lindgren (3-0-1-3-1-2*-r) 10+1, Linus Eklof (1-0-0) 1.
