BOSS Simon Browne is expecting good things from George Webb after the former Cherries prospect made a flying start to his Hamworthy United career.

The talented midfielder has been in fine form in the Wessex League this season, with his impressive spell at Bournemouth Poppies earning him a move to the ambitious County Ground outfit.

Webb, a product of the Dean Court youth ranks, has helped Hammers climb to fourth in the Premier Division table with three goals in his first two appearances.

And manager Browne is pleased with the impact made by his new recruit.

He told the Echo: “He’s fitted into everything very nicely so far.

“He’s scored three in the two games he’s played and has been fantastic.

“I was lucky enough to recently sign Dave Ewen and he’s got seven goals, so we have been fortunate they have done what I asked of them – to go and give us a little bit more impetus.

“George is a bubbly character and he’s got good pedigree in the fact he’s been at Bournemouth and I’m expecting good things from him.”

Webb, who netted 10 goals in 18 league starts for Poppies this term, dropped into the non-league ranks after being released by Cherries in October 2009.

He enjoyed nine years at Dean Court and made his first-team debut at the end of the 2008-09 season.
