MICHAEL Symes is hoping to build a productive strike partnership with Josh McQuoid after describing the emerging star’s recent performances as “brilliant”.
The duo have formed an impressive pairing in attack in Cherries’ past two league matches and caught the eye in the 3-3 draw against Notts County.
Having played together for the first time in the victory at Tranmere, Symes provided the assist as McQuoid continued his scoring streak with a fine opener against the Magpies.
McQuoid went on to net a second, while Symes’s strong leading of the line would also have pleased Cherries as they continue life without Brett Pitman.
The frontmen missed Tuesday night’s JPT defeat at the hands of Torquay United due to injury, and while McQuoid could return when Cherries visit Huddersfield Town this weekend, Symes is rated doubtful with a shoulder problem.
But Symes is keen to forge a successful partnership with homegrown talent McQuoid, who has waited patiently for a regular starting place since breaking into the senior squad.
When asked about his team-mate following the County clash, summer signing Symes told the Echo: “He’s got blistering pace so he’s always going to be a threat in behind and he’s a good finisher as well. Hopefully, we can get a good partnership going.
“It’s always easy for a striker if you’re playing up front with someone who’s got good pace.
“I can hold the ball up and win my flick-ons, and also create chances for him.
“I can always slip him through – with his pace he is going to cause anyone problems. His finishing is spot on as well.”
Symes, who was Accrington Stanley’s top scorer last term, is also aiming to chip in with more goals himself, having bagged 19 during the 2009-10 season.
“Hopefully, I’ll start scoring a couple more goals myself and he will carry on the way he has in the past two games,” said Symes, who played through the pain barrier against the Magpies.
The 26-year-old will be hoping Cherries can quickly regain their winning League One form following the dramatic end to that match.
Symes added: “At 3-1 up with about 10 minutes to go, you’d expect to see out the game.
“We’ve got to learn from it to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
“It’s only early in the season, which is a good thing, and we can make sure it doesn’t happen again now.”

Symes it seems is doubtful for Saturday, which makes the search for a loan Striker urgent. I imagine that Eddie had targets to bring in on a more permanent basis , but our wage structure wasn't acceptable to them, but you can't break it for one and we have to cut our cloth according to our means. We have such a tough run of away fixtures coming up that we will need some luck in avoiding injuries, as Tuesday shewed we have good cover for most positions, but the long term injuries to out strikers is causing a real problem.

let's hope these two stay injury free, they have started together really well, reminds me of fletch and hayter with speed added to the mix, what a future these two could have!!!

We only get gates of 6000. this will never be enough to sustain a championship side, even if it increased to 12000 we couldnt pay the wages of the better players to sustain us there. other clubs will offer more money and more opportunity for progression so players would want to leave to improve themselves. The only way we could stay in a higher division is to uncover gems and sell them to supplement our income. Having a great manager like eddie is the be all and end all really. its about motivating and encouraging along with training the players to play in a sensible way, passing it and moving. I think they have come on leaps and bounds in that respect and that is down to the manager and his staff. if players leave we have to hope that the manager will find another one with potential who is just as good, train them up and then see where they end up. we havent missed brett yet have we?? we have two great forwards who are injured. eddie and jason will continue to search whilst the window is shut as we will possibly need replacements for january when who knows what could happen. Taylor looked very good against torquay...Its not the players-its Eddie Howe who makes them believe and play well.

It is annoying that as soon as anyone becomes a success at Bournemouth they are invariably sold. We must get out of the habit of selling our assets if we are going to make a return to the second tier.
I seem to recall Ted Macdougall - sold after scoring 46 goals in a season, Phil Boyer - again sold along with the rest of the team bar two. The side were relagated as a result and spent years in the wilderness with 2000 gates. I still have nightmares about it after watching the Macdougall - Boyer pertnership flourish.
Harry Rednapp left through being successful, although I accept he wanted to go.
SOD was the same due to playing good football on a limited budget and departed taking one or two individuals with him. Eventually, we were relagated - again.
Eddie will go sooner or later, mark my words. What worries me the most is WHO WILL HE TAKE WITH HIM ??? If the club is once again stripped of it's assets then a sharp return to League 'diddly' Two will be on the horizon - AGAIN !!
And before anyone says this is a negative post by not reading and inwardly digesting what I am actually saying - Please recall our history with this regard - that is any successful asset has always left either vouluntarily or sold accordingly.
Now that we have got our debts under control - do we now always have to be a selling club!!!!
As ever . I do hope i am wrong!!!

old codger, shminto, who are the current league one leaders in the goal scoring charts??? oh yeah us, so much for your urgent need for a loan striker, time you started trusting our own talent me thinks!!
