Cherries: Mitchell thanks fans for Rhoys aid

CHERRIES chairman Eddie Mitchell has offered a vote of thanks to supporters for their generosity in helping finance the signing of Rhoys Wiggins.

Defender Wiggins, who had previously enjoyed two fruitful loan spells at Dean Court, made his move permanent earlier this month.

He joined Cherries for a nominal fee from Championship newcomers Norwich City, with the move partly funded by monies generated from fans.

Mitchell told the Daily Echo: “The club raised the money to get him signed and we got some good terms with Norwich. It was a great coup for us.

“It was a joint effort between ourselves, the vice-presidents and other supporters and everybody contributed towards getting the funds to do it. It was also testament to the negotiating skills of Eddie (Howe) and Jason (Tindall).

“The board had an input, the supporters bought season tickets and a number of vice-presidents took up lifetime packages.

“All these factors helped us to sign Rhoys. It was a joint effort and was not down to any one individual.

“The lifetime packages have been a great help and have brought in extra revenue. We offered vice-presidents a ticket for life and they went down very well. We sold around 50 and there is still room for another 50.

“Season ticket sales have been excellent, while takings in the club shop since we brought in new stock have been fantastic.”

Mitchell also confirmed the club was close to breaking through the 3,000 season ticket barrier.

He added: “We are fast approaching it and I think we will break it by the start of the season. It would be another milestone for us and shows a lot of faith in the team. People have got belief that we are going to play good football so it is great for the club and the players.”

A lot of faith in the team and Eddie Howe, yes, BUT YOU SIR NO !!!!. Your the owner, act like one. More evidence that you dont have the finance to take the club forward.

Clearly we have Mr Omerod back using yet another alias. he appears to be one of those people who think that the World owes him a living. As far as I can see Mr.Mitchell has been consistant, he has always made it very clear that he's no Abramovich, that the amount of money he could put into the Cluib is limited and that it would be run as a business. For the first time in all the years that I have been a supporter, there is planning for the future and a long term strategy in place and we can see the Club going forward and on an icreasingly sound basis. What's wrong with the supporters helping when and if they can? we are part of the Club, without us it would fail and we all want a successful team. If, as he claims Mr Omerod is a Season Ticket holder, he is a supporter and should put aside his animosity towards Eddie Mitchell, who the majority feel is doing a great job and enjoy the Season. Get a life man.

whoever you are fore15, you are a joke, with no understanding of obvious progress, if you have a problem with EM and the board face them with your views, using this site to vent your attacks tiring and juvenile, move on man, if you have a grudge against these people you are wasting valuble living time.

Heavily in debt and in administration just over a year ago - now virtually debt-free. Season ticket sales about to break the 3,000 mark. Quality close-season signings to bolster the squad. Manager and Assistant both tied down to long-term deals ensuring stability on-field finally a chairman who does not believe in a one-man-band financial arrangement but for the club AND it's supporters (which "fore15" is obviously not) to work together to bring the club forward and to build for the future. I could go on but it would be wasted on this pea-brained buffoon !

Kenneth Omerod appeared regularly on this site last season extolling his opinions of what a bad boy Eddie Mitchell was, how he would ruin the club and we all regret the day EM took over the running of the club.
Unfortunately for KO his predictions never came to pass and EM is still running the club and doing possibly the brest job a Chairman has done for a long, long time.
KO then melted into oblivion and we believe he has been ressurrected in the form of Fore15 to continue his rantings and campaign agianst EM.

We already know that Mitchell doesn't want to use his own money to fund the club, so it was obvious he won't be using any of his to make purchases, so this money must have come from what the club have made over the last year and a half, and clearly people who have FAITH in the way the current regime are running the club, and I for one would also put my own money in as a supporter, if I had any, as you don't get paid for being at school, as I feel that this club is only going in one direction and that is forward
This is because I have complete faith in Mitchell and the rest of the board. Living in Belgium I only get to see the team play 2 or 3 times a year, but the difference in atmosphere and the ground itself was very noticeable when I was last over, for the Tottenham, from the Torquay match on boxing day, which I also saw.
Something else that caught my attention when at Dean Court, apart from the large amount of support, was how much busier the club shop was compared to previous visits, which can only be a good thing.

We know that Mitchell hasn't, isn't and never will put his own money into the club as he wants it to live on its own income, but the odd donation couldn't hurt to bring it forward ;)

Em has said from the start that the club needs to fund itself and he wouldnt be putting any money in so no problem there. His planning and business ideas seem to have got us on the right track so sit back and enjoy the coming season.Who would of thought 18 months ago that we would be playing charlton and saints in our first two matches of the 2010-11 season instead of the likes of accrington and morecambe(no disrespect to those two teams).Would advise anyone wanting to go to st marys this season to grab a cup ticket as us season ticket holders will snap most of the league tickets up as i believe we are only being allocated 3200 for the league game, maybe they will give us some more?

Eddie Mitchell has turned AFCB around in the last year he's been in charge and I'm sick of reading the comments made by a few morons slagging him off.
If it wasn't for EM's dedication to seeing the club on the right footing we wouldn't have a club here to support at all. All of you should remember that!
So I say to all EM's doubters..... get lost and get stuffed!
AFC are going places. We have a fantastic chairman and the best young manager in the country and a squad of players more than capable of upsetting the bookies in League One this year.
Get behind the club and stop with the continual anti EM BS ok!
