Cherries: New deal for keeper Jalal

TOP performer Shwan Jalal became the latest star to commit his future to Cherries and then emphasised his strong belief in the club’s gallant promotion quest.

Just hours after penning a new two-and-a-half year contract, Jalal produced a trademark solid display to help the Dean Court outfit secure a 1-0 win over Morecambe.

Jalal, who described himself as “overjoyed” and “honoured” to have been handed the opportunity to extend his stay in Dorset, revealed the decision to remain loyal had been an easy one.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Peterborough goalkeeper believes he can realise his ambition of playing up the divisions with the club he joined, initially on loan, in July 2008.

He told the Echo: “I think a lot of the players in this team can play at a higher level.

“If we can keep the squad together and develop and mature together, without a question, if we keep applying ourselves, then we will play at a higher level.

“I’ve not had many seasons where, even at this stage, I’ve still been playing for something.

“I got to the FA Trophy final with Woking and we were in with a shout of the play-offs in my first season there.

“But the past two seasons have been fantastic – last season staying up and this time pushing for promotion.

“It’s just a fantastic place to be at the moment. I think we’ve come too far for promotion not to be attainable.”

The 26-year-old added: “I just want to carry on and push onwards and upwards. I think the best thing for me is to do it with Mossy, Jason and Eddie.”

Delighted boss Howe revealed that hard graft was the key to Jalal’s consistent performances.

He said: “He’s really focused and has worked ever so hard with Neil Moss, who has been brilliant for him.

“He has come in on days off to practice his game and he’s done extra strength sessions off his own back.

“It’s something that I really like about him – that he’s desperate to improve and to be successful. That’s why he’s had the success he’s had this year.”

Jalal is the fourth player to be rewarded with a new contract in recent weeks, with Marvin Bartley, Liam Feeney and Ryan Garry also signing new two-and-a-half year deals with the club.

In another post someone has directed us to read what is written in the websitehttp://www.pe
titiono
nline.com/EMODTFC9/p

etition.html Now maybe I am stupid but would the likes of Jalal, Pearce, Feney etc sign a new contract if EM was applying what is written in the website? Clearly there are people about that have received a raw deal from EM (most likely deservedly so!) so nothing will please those people and it seems to me that no matter what EM does they will continue to put him down. Oh well what more can we say

Best signing of the season in my opinion. When you consider how much Pompey sold Begovic for, Jalal's price tag would probably clear Pompeys debts!
For me he is player of the season this season.
Pitman 2nd because without his goals we wouldnt be anywhere. Then between Robinson, Feeney, Garry and Pearce for 3rd.
A couple of years ago we were on here thinking we didnt have any saleable assets.
Now, we have so many.

Best keeper in the League in my eyes and undoubtedly would get my vote as player of the season. Thanks to Shwan for committing to the team and well done to the club for securing his services.

Jalal, you work wonders on the field and without your expertise Cherries would not be where there are now in the League.
You are worth your weight in gold.
I hope you have a long and fruitful career with the Cherries.

Solid keeper and keepers win matches. Our defence has been the key to our league position and Jalal has one of the best records in the league - only two other teams have conceded fewer goals.

Many a wise manager has said over the years that their success has come from building a great defence. A well deserved reward for his hard work, great news.

My brother in Italy reads these posts every day and he has asked me to post the following. "A very big thanks to all Cherries's supporters from nonnogeppetto's brother, I do enjoy reading your posts. I can feel the passion you put in it. I know supporters like their team to win home and away games, but sometimes forget that there are opponents who also want to win . Continue with your great support for AFCB and I wish you all the best, promotion is very near. UP Cherries and Up Milan"

just a thought. surely with all these players geting contracts the board clearly dont think we will be going out of business at the end of the month. i hope i am right. is this not also a good business deal that EM has done if bigger clubs come sniffing around.

Exactly the point I wanted to make against the poster who drew our attention to the petition regarding Dorchester Town FC. I am glad that Jalal has signed on the dotted line. Well done

Well done Shwan for committing yourself to the Cherries cause. Top man and probably best keeper in Divs 2 and 3.

At least if we get desperate to sell players in the summer we'll get a bigger fee now.

Shwan is at AFCB because he want to play for the club, Shmiecal is at Notts County just for the money

Guy knows sweet shop is for sale but drowning in debt but buys it anyway on the basis he'll invest nothing. Guy then employs family relative to run the shop and pays him 50K per year. After a while he realises he can't furnish the debt he and only he decided to take on with his eyes wide open so he asks customers to pay for next years sweets in advance. When he realises that won't cover the debt he then asks the customers to pay off his debts by way of donation, even though they've only just paid for next years sweets up-front.
Haven't you heard? EM is a brilliant buisnessman and a paragon of virtue (space for smiley thing winking)

Shwan provides real confidence to his back four - constantly encouraging and directing

If the bookies are offering odds on player of the year, lump on Shwan tomorrow. The best keeper since Kenny Allen and that includes Neil Moss Moss Moss

lol EM himself told you he'll worry about the summer IF and WHEN we get there, so I'm not sure why you think the signing of a goalkeeper will persuede the HMRC to take it easy on us, in fact, it's naive....again, but EM's whole operation and buisness strategy relies on naive people buying his spin. Judging from this forum there's still quite a few gullible people out there ready to beileve its only reasonable to buy an ailing football club and then get the fans to pay off its debts with their goodwill in advancing next years income and then going cap in hand to those same people begging for more money so 'their' club can be 'saved,' so EM can then own a profitable football club that he can flog on debt free for a profit.

I don't buy spin - I buy into Eddie Howe and his team of players who are doing their best for the club and the fans

In Mitchell there is one person who at the the moment, is trying his best for the club - and in the absence of any one else or plan B

When was the last time you were at Dean Court supporting the team?

As I have said previously there are many posting on this site who do not know what they are talking about and that includes you

Of course we dont know what we're talking about, nor do all the people in this thread I suppose? lol So naive.
