Cherries: Howe confident of breaking home hoodoo

MANAGER Eddie Howe has emphasised his belief in Cherries’ attacking prowess as they bid to end their home hoodoo this evening.

Howe’s men, who are yet to register a victory at Dean Court in 2010, get the perfect opportunity to set the record straight when they host high-flying Notts County tonight (7.45pm).

The Cherries boss admitted his team were “lacking a spark” after they failed to break down struggling Cheltenham Town at the Dorset venue on Saturday.

With the Magpies in town, on the back of four consecutive wins, there could not be a better time for Cherries to transfer their fine away form to home soil.

He said: “We know we have to perform better than we did in our last game, with a little bit more quality.

“We know we’re capable of it. If we can show that quality in the final third, there isn’t a great deal else wrong. I didn’t think Cheltenham looked like scoring at all, which was a real positive.”

Discussing County’s recent exploits, Howe added: “They are on a really good run of form.

“I’ve been lucky enough to watch them a couple of times and they’ve always performed quite well.

“They’ve got some good players and they are very confident at the moment.

“But we’ve got seven points out of nine, so we’re not doing too badly ourselves.”

Howe is sweating on the fitness of Marvin Bartley (calf) and |Steve Fletcher (back), both of whom he described as being “big” doubts.

But left-back Warren Cummings returns after serving his three-match ban.

Cherries: (from) Jalal, Bradbury, Pearce, Garry, Wiggins, Feeney, Robinson, Hollands, McQuoid, Pitman, Fletcher, Bartley, Goulding, Connell, Cummings, Tindall, Thomas (g/k).

Notts County: (from) Schmeichel, Edwards, Thompson, Hunt, Ravenhill, Bishop, Davies, Hamshaw, Jackson, Hughes, Rodgers, Hawley, Westcarr, Clapham, Lee, Fairclough, Akinbiyi, Hoult (g/k).

Worth highlighting for fans going to London that the district line to Dagenham is closed so journeys by public transport will take longer.

Just seen the name Akinbiyi on bench for them. Another guy that puts himself about. We'll need Fletch tonight so hopefully he is fit.
May sound negative but avoiding defeat is vital, win would be great

As would I ! With Fletch a major doubt and Bartley most unlikely to play the difference in the playing resources available to the Managers is immense. Our "bench" could well be Connoly, Thomas and Tindall and look at theirs. The FL have allowed County to drive a horse and cart through the Salary Cap regulations, two of their player salaries would pay the wages for our entire squad. Stuff them lads!

A draw could still put us down to 3rd however I'd still take it right now.
Saying that it depends what afcb comes out tonight the hard working chase everything down classy one or Err.....the other one. Knowing this team we nearly always rise to the better teams because the come to play football. lets all hope the boys stuff county which I for one am sure they can, if not I fear the slide will be starting, even if that happens tho we still had a tremendous season.
good luck tonight and lets all go home with the biggest smile ever.

Great to have Warren Cummings back into contention after serving his three match suspension. Still second in the League and a good chance of winning tonight, need a big crowd and lots of noise. Up The Cherries!

The previous meeting, recent form, squad depth and financial outlay all point to a Notts County win but you just never know. A goal from nowhere, stout defending, maybe a couple of lucky refereeing decisions and things might just go our way. We are quite capable of the win.
