BOURNEMOUTH’S rapidly growing reputation as one of the south coast’s most go-ahead clubs is among the main reasons former Premiership lock Tim Collier joined the Dorset outfit.

That’s the opinion of Chapel Gate head coach David Dunn, whose side achieved their aim of gaining National League status at the beginning of this season.

Lions currently occupy a safe Three South West mid-table position, although they still have eyes on a third-placed finish with a view to mounting a serious promotion push next term.

It’s those lofty targets that Dunn believes has helped fuel ex-Worcester and Harlequins star Collier’s unexpected move from National Two leaders Barking to the south coast.

Dunn, who side host Coney Hill today, (2.15pm) said: “We have two ex-pros working at this club in Junior Paramore and Robert Todd, and a lot of people are aware of those sorts of people being here.

“Tim came along to training and we had a chat after work commitments had affected his travelling to Barking.

“He’ll be a real asset to us, and we’ve already seen that with his talking, and the way he scrummages has made a big difference to the way we played.

“Tim brings a wealth of experience of playing at the top level.

“We have so many young players who are working so hard at their game who can only benefit from that.

“He led by example with ball in his hand at Taunton and is very difficult to stop. Tim can lead the young players.”
