MATT Ford insists he has left the door open for Pirates asset Krzysztof Kasprzak to line up for the club again following the Pole’s loan move to Lakeside for 2010.

Kasprzak, a popular figure on the Wimborne Road terraces since he originally joined the Dorset outfit six years ago, hasn’t begun a season with his parent club since 2006.

The Pole temporarily stood in as cover for injured Bjarne Pedersen for a month in 2008.

But he has not ridden regularly for Pirates since completing the 2006 term in a heat leader role.

And his chances of doing so again seem to have diminished with the arrival of dynamic Aussie duo Chris Holder and Darcy Ward at Wimborne Road on full transfers.

Asked if he could see Kasprzak riding for Poole Castle Cover in the future, Ford said: “Yes, I see no reason why not.

“I did consider it this year, but decided we would be better going in a different direction.

“I wish him well, and he has not asked to leave the club, he has only asked to go on loan.

“The door will certainly be open to him here in the future.”

Ford added: “We haven’t spoken about selling him to Lakeside. I have only agreed a loan.

“It’s Krzysztof’s choice. He decided he wanted to leave Belle Vue, who also had permission to speak to him about 2010.

“We didn’t want to stand in his way and the rider can go where he likes. We did have a brief discussion about him coming to Poole, but it probably wasn’t the right time for it to happen.”

Kasprzak has already spent a year on loan at Lakeside in 2007.

Apart from seven appearances for Poole, he sat out the remainder of the following year’s British season before going on loan to Belle Vue in 2009.

With talk of Peterborough asset Hans Andersen also joining Eastbourne, those developments have increased the chances of a Pirates heat leader quality asset like Davey Watt, Bjarne Pedersen and Antonio Lindback rejoining Poole.

Ford would not be drawn on any of their immediate futures, but he did say: “There are a couple of options.

“I’ve taken phone calls from a few riders who have made themselves available, and with one or two riders whose names would shock people who aren’t being used by their parent clubs.

“We’ll be making another signing at Poole Stadium on Wednesday during the Rider Equipment Fund organisation’s social event.

“I can’t say who that’ll be at the moment, but can confirm we’ll have a new captain in 2010 (Pedersen was skipper this year).

“There are still a few permutations of riders who may be coming to the club.

“While in principle I wanted a particular one-to-seven two weeks ago, it has changed again after one rider out-priced himself for Poole.

“This now means I will move in a different direction with that position in the team.”

The Poole-based Rider Equipment Fund organisation stage a general knowledge quiz in the Champs Bar at Poole Stadium at 7.30pm on Wednesday.

Tickets, available from Stan Vatcher on 01202 691143, cost £4 (members) and £5 (non-members), with all proceeds donated to helping Pirates and Buccaneers riders.”
