Speedway: Bjarne faces a GP poser

BJARNE Pedersen is eyeing up a top eight spot in Latvia today but at the same time insists he’s not sure whether he really wants to ride in the Grand Prix again.

Poole’s captain, back on top form after a shaky start to the season, is only 10 rides away from re-joining the World Championship circus after relinquishing his place at the end of last year.

But he said: “I just feel very relaxed about going to Daugavpils for the GP qualifier semi-final.

“However, if I qualified for the GP I don’t know what would be the right thing to do.

“The GP is a very hard event to be in. Financially it costs a lot of money.

“At the moment, I just take one day at a time, and the most important thing is I’m enjoying my life and my racing.

“I want to keep doing it, but when I go into today’s meeting I won’t treat it any differently to riding for Poole against Wolves earlier this week or in Sweden on Tuesday.

“I’ll treat it like I normally do with any meeting, not go into it with any special preparations.

“Of course I want to win it, but I’m still going into it like a normal meeting.”
