PAUL Baker has been granted 28 days to secure Cherries' short-term future.
A winding-up petition on AFC Bournemouth Ltd, heard at the High Court in London this morning, was adjourned after Baker stumped up £10,000 to fight off the threat of a winding-up order – which would have effectively seen the closure of the football club.
The petition, issued by solicitors Portner & Jaskell, is for £28,000 of remaining money owed to Magic Solutions Ltd.
The court heard this morning that Baker, who was in attendance, will be in a position to pay the remaining debt within 28 days, although the High Court Registrar added that it would be the club’s “final chance” to pay up.
The payment, it was added, will either come from Baker personally, or from the sale of the club to another consortium by the end of February.
If the club had been wound-up today, its affairs would have been handed over to the Official Receiver, who would ensure the sale of any assets to pay outstanding debts before closing the football club.
