HAMWORTHY United boss Phil Simkin admits he fears a backlash for his side at Cuthbury after seeing Wimborne held to a 2-2 there by Romsey in midweek.

Simkin was in the crowd as Magpies relinquished a 2-0 lead and dropped more valuable Sydenhams Wessex top-flight points on Tuesday.

He returns to Cuthbury with his Hammers outfit tomorrow (3pm) for another league clash.

Ahead of the trip, Simkin said: "I watched Wimborne draw with Romsey the other night and it was obvious people are not happy over there at the moment.

"We're playing quite well and fancy getting something out of the game. We go there relatively confident of doing well."

Simkin, whose side beat Ringwood 2-0 at home in the Wessex League Cup second round on Wednesday with strikes from Mark Claremont and Richard Jackson, added: "We're five unbeaten and the fact is Wimborne have some very good players there.

"It's just at the moment, certainly on the evidence of the other night, it isn't quite happening for them.

"Whether we get the backlash on Saturday remains to be seen, but we'll go over and do our best to get something out of the game."

Wimborne assistant manager Adam Batchelor, running team affairs following the departure of Christer Warren yesterday, said: "Phil always puts out a decent side and they have been busy with the movement of players they've had coming in.

"We've put in some good performances over the last three weeks or so but we just have to keep going.

"We have to be more decisive in the final third and keep it tight in the defensive third.

"If we can do that, it will be a good game for us."

Wimborne are unchanged from the side that drew against Romsey.

Hammers, whose win over Ringwood fixed up a visit to Alresford in the Wessex League Cup last 16 on November 25, have Tim Constable back from unavailability.
