MAIKI Bunny' Burenivalu won't get bored playing Southern Counties South rugby despite an obvious talent to compete successfully at a much higher league level.

That's the view of Oakmeadians' James Croker, who saw the Fijian-born England Sevens star score five debut tries against Sherborne.

The Meyrick Park-based outfit romped to a one-sided 81-5 victory and they hope to build on that success at North Dorset in the league tomorrow (3pm).

Asked if there was any danger Burenivalu, the name on most Dorset rugby followers' lips at the moment, would think it was too easy at Southern Counties level, Croker said: "No.

"The reason he's with us, he said himself, is because he likes the lads and the club.

"It's a welcoming club and it will continue to be as long as we are enjoying what we are doing."

Croker, whose new-look side are joint top of the table following two wins, said: "The idea is we won't be at this level for long. That's the aim.

"I suppose it's stepping down a bit from what some of the players have played at, but if you are playing with players who have played at a higher level, they will all have a common goal.

"We have those guys and they have to start believing in themselves.

"There's no reason why with us playing together and playing well, focusing and training hard, we can't go up the league.

"But we'll think about that in April or May when the end of the season is nearer."

Croker has also shrugged off Oaks' tag as title favourites.

He said: "I've said it to the lads - I firmly believe the only people who can beat us are ourselves.

"I'm not here to worry about what other teams are doing or what their expectations are.

"We have to concentrate on our performance.

"We're only in control of ourselves. I want us to just focus on internal performances.

"If we approach it like that hopefully we can have a good season."
