KAROL Zabik has admitted: "I want to ride for Poole again next season."
The young Pole endured a frustrating stop-start two-month spell with Castle Cover Pirates at the beginning of this season, but then asked to leave the club.
But he won his first race on his return to Wimborne Road last night in the Draper Tools Four Team Championship.
And despite ending the meeting with only those three points, it's clear Zabik - who said he spent four hours trying to catch some sleep on a bench at Copenhagen airport on Tuesday night because he couldn't book into a hotel - could still have a big future with the Dorset club.
Zabik, currently lining up with Peterborough, said: "I'm with Panthers until the end of the season but I've told them I want to ride for Poole next year.
"There's nothing bad with Peterborough. They've been good to me and I get on well with everyone there.
"They wanted to know what I wanted to do next year and I told them after my last meeting at Peterborough I wanted to be with Poole.
"I'm not saying Peterborough is a bad place. It's not, but I've so many friends at Poole, so I said to Peterborough, Poole is the place for me.
"I have good friends here, including David Adams of Wessex Marine, and Neil Middleditch and Matt Ford, who is the best promoter in the Elite League.
"My mechanic feels very good here as well, so this is the best place for us to work together."
Talking about asking to leave Poole in May, Zabik added: "Matt and I spoke about a lot of things at the time.
"I wasn't feeling very settled in my mind and my mental side had just gone.
"When you feel like that you can't ride proper races in England, so I asked Matt if I could pull away.
"He asked if I could race some more matches, and I said yes.
"But then I crashed at Eastbourne and got injured, had to take a break from racing and Matt had to bring some new guys into the team because he couldn't wait any longer for me to be fit again.
"I'm very pleased with his help. I would like to work with him in the future.
"He is a very good promoter."
