SOMERSET owner Mike Golding would not step in the way if Poole-born Jordan Frampton wanted to ride for his hometown club in the future.
Frampton, who has just made way for Mark Lemon as Castle Cover Pirates' number eight, admitted earlier this year he would love to ride more regularly for the Dorset club.
But he is a Somerset asset now, after the Premier League outfit purchased him on a full transfer from Swindon in mid-season.
The Rebels are challenging strongly for promotion to the top tier.
But if they don't make it, Golding said he'd like nothing better for the 23-year-old to continue his push for regular top-flight speedway at Wimborne Road in 2009.
Frampton makes his international debut for England under-23s against Australia at the Oak Tree Arena tonight (7.30pm).
Speaking ahead of that meeting, Golding said: "To be honest, I think Jordan possibly needs another year in the Premier.
"However, there is a possibility, and it's only that at the moment before the BSPA annual meeting, that doubling up may happen again for riders other than Elite reserves next season.
"If that's the case I think Jordan is a rider who can benefit from that.
"It would be ideal for him riding for his hometown club while gaining more experience here in the Premier."
Golding added: "Two years ago Jordan was riding in Conference League second halves and now he's making his debut for his country at under-23 level.
"Manager Dave Croucher's idea was that because there are a lot of rain-offs at the moment, he didn't want to take riders away from their league meetings.
"He had a pool of riders and if we at Somerset hadn't been riding on Monday and Thursday I think Jordan would have picked up at least one more cap for England.
"He's learnt a lot at Poole this year. When you are alongside top riders like Bjarne Pedersen, Chris Holder and Davey Watt, even just learning from watching helps you.
"Jordan hasn't had many meetings, only three as number eight, but every time he's at Poole he's always in the pits and you always pick up little things from the best riders.
"I just wish he could have had more opportunities in the team because he does perhaps need to improve his gating.
"There's a gap between Elite and Premier with gating and you can only improve that out on the track."
