CHERRIES are today expected to complete the signing of Brentford striker Alan Connell.
Connell is set to rejoin Cherries, coming in as a straight replacement for Bristol Rovers-bound Jo Kuffour.
It is understood Cherries have agreed a deal with Brentford for the 25-year-old, who made 54 appearances for the Dorset outfit between 2002 and 2005.
He is expected to link up with Kevin Bond's squad tomorrow and also undergo a medical. Connell is likely to be in contention to start against Port Vale on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Kuffour looks set to finally complete his move to Bristol Rovers later today.

Before wingeing about Connell signing it might be a good idea to remember our circumstances . We are a skint league 2 side fresh out of admin and carrying a 17 point deficit . We have scored just 1 goal in 2 lge games & last seasons top scorer is on his way through the door as i key this . Connell might not be a world class player but then their not queing up to join us , are they ? One things for sure though he,ll put in twice the work of Pitman & more likely get double figures on the goal front !

Mark Robins seems to be doing a good job of motivating his troops it has to be said. So on that basis the idea that we've a seventeen point reduction and were apparently skint and we've just come out of admin in my mind is a poor excuse for us not to be able to sign quality players and is ceratinly no excuse for us not to string some positive results together.
I take your point-but chaps give him a break-he may be the surprise of the season

I know we are all getting on the backs of Sport 6 but it has to be said so far its been a complete shambels, all they've had to offer us so far is a sponsorship deal with Cabrini, who actually seem to be sponsoring half the football league this season, signing a hand full of loan players and the highly lucrative 20/20 criket at DC, what a success that was. All in all a pretty poor show. Let me ask you all a question, if you had your own company, would you get sport 6 to arrange the marketing for you?? Even if we were playing in the Blue Square Premier, afcb are still my club and nowt will change that. UP THE CHERRIES!!!!!!!
Well, here we go again!! Another poor quality signing!!!. The question is why did Hereford and Brentford release him????? After all both of these clubs played in League Two and he certainly did not make any kind of impact whatsoever with them!!
It's enough to drive anybody to a nervous breakdown!! Come back John Benson all is forgiven!! - Yes the John Benson era is once again upon us!!!
Exactly why have we signed him ???. Answer - because it is another cheap option and that he is a striker and that he was avialable!! It's makes me spew!!
I cannot believe some of the misguided reponses to my post yesterday!!. Can you people actually see what is happening at the club?? What I said yesterday is actually happening. I t is ther fir all to see. Why do you all seem to want to drift into denial and close your eyes to what in blatently in front of you???????????
At least there are one or two posters who actually can see my point of view.
One poor misguided individual stated that we have only played three games so what is the problem!!. Clearly he has not taken into account that we were 17 points behind when the season kicked off. So with the points ratio taken into account and the games we have already played we have in relaity played nine games with only two points gained!! Please tune yourselves in folks!!!

Lets give him a chance you never know and if Pitman is as good as some of you think Connell wont get a look in so dont worry !!!!
He was a fans' favourite last time he played for us, mainly due to his workrate and potential. Why he hasn't fulfilled his potential is debatable. Maybe he will get a buzz from returning where he is welcomed (I hope!). God loves a trier and we need more of them!

I well remember Alan Connell's first game for AFCB when he was very well received by the supporters for his obvious enthusiasm and effort. He was very unfortunate to pick up a serious injury which cost him his place, but I am quite sure he will wear the shirt with pride, if he signs for us, and may well be a revelation. Saw his wedding pictures in the Echo a short while ago which I believe may have been taken locally, so lets start by making him welcome and giving him the incentive to do well with his present team mates. Good Luck Alan.!!!

Alan Connell has done well at this level for Torquay, Hereford and Brentford and has more experience now than when he was here as a kid. I think it's a good signing if it happens, his manager at Brentford said in their local paper today that he's going nowhere. Would be a huge own goal for Sport 6 if it didn't happen now that they've announced it!
