DANNY Hollands has targeted a September return after successfully undergoing knee surgery last week.

The Cherries midfielder went under the knife at Bournemouth's Nuffield Hospital to cure a cartilage tear in his left knee.

And the Daily Echo / Micky Cave supporters' player of the year is hoping to overcome the frustration of being sidelined as soon as possible.

"I've almost got the full range of movement back already," the former Chelsea reserves skipper told the Daily Echo today.

"It's not as bad as it could've been so hopefully by the middle of September I'll be aiming to come back and play.

"I can go on the bike in the next couple of days and I'm looking to run probably between the next seven to 10 days.

"I'll see how all that goes then get back in the swing of things."

Hollands cemented his position as a key player for Cherries with a string of all-action performances in League One last term.

But his knee problem has meant he has missed Cherries' entire pre-season friendly programme, and all but a few training sessions.

"It's very frustrating. I haven't been able to do anything, it's very annoying because I just want to train," added Hollands.

Nearly as frustrating for us knowing that such a quality player will be missing for the first few weeks. Take it easy, Danny, we don't want you back early if it means you are back on the bench soon afterwards.

Let's hope you come back in to a winning side and you can bring something extra to move the team on, let's not rush you back and then lose you for months, good luck.

Dan is the man! When you are 100% fit again it will give the whole squad a boost and be like a new signing.
Best of luck with your fitness programme.
