Watt resigned to away finals

DAVEY Watt has admitted the fact Australia will probably never enjoy home advantage in the World Team Cup never fazes them ahead of tonight's final in Denmark.

The geography of their country - Australia is situated on the other side of the world to speedway's European hotbed - means there is little chance they will ever stage the sport's top team competition.

But Watt said: "It doesn't really bother us. We're used to it. It doesn't have an adverse affect on our racing.

"I think all Aussie riders have been in this situation the whole time. We each have to adopt a home track.

"For me, Poole is my home track because I live in Poole. After I do the World Cup and a Polish league meeting on Sunday, I say I get to go home.

"It means I go to Poole, not Australia. Our home is where we stay."

Watt added: "I think we have as good a chance as anyone in this final.

"We beat Poland at home in event one, and for us Vojens is a track that is a little bit similar to English type tracks.

"It's small and usually slick. It's not too far away from where we have all learnt.

"The Danes are very good on these types of tracks. They're not just good on that track because they have practised on it a lot.

"None of them have ridden on it this year, but they learnt to ride on small, slick tracks as youngsters. It's in their nature and they're going to be extremely tough to beat, but so are we."

Watt scored four points as Australia finished third in last year's final at Leszno.

He said: "It would be absolutely fantastic if we could win this time, especially for me personally.

"It would just be a dream to win it."
