PRECISELY two months since suffering relegation from League One, Cherries begin pre-season training at Dean Court this morning.

With the pain of last season's final-day drama still fresh in the minds of players and supporters alike, manager Kevin Bond will put his men through their paces.

Following yesterday's takeover revelations and the ongoing off-field saga at the troubled Dorset club, all involved are likely to be keen to focus on footballing matters once again.

Cherries begin their pre-season friendlies in less than two weeks at Hamworthy Recreation.

The curtain-raiser is followed by five further warm-up fixtures, which include games against FA Cup winners Portsmouth and beaten Coca-Cola Championship play-off finalists Bristol City.

Cherries' pre-season fixtures: Away v Hamworthy Recreation (July 15, 6.30pm), away v Poole Town (July 18, 7.45pm), home v Portsmouth (July 22, 7.45pm), home v Bristol City (July 26, 3pm), away v Dorchester Town (July 29, 7.45pm), away v Eastleigh (August 2, 3pm).

  • Cherries' youth team will face strong opposition, including counterparts from Portsmouth and Cardiff City, in a six-fixture pre-season schedule.

"I'm looking forward to it," said the club's head of youth Joe Roach.

"You always want to see a competitive element, as well as gauge fitness levels.

"You also get an idea of how the players will gel together.

"We've always competed well in pre-season with the likes of Aston Villa and Reading. It gives us good preparation for the start of the season."

The youth side begin pre-season training today at Brockenhurst College.

Cherries youth pre-season fixtures: Home v Charlton (July 19, noon), home v Portsmouth (July 24, 2pm), away v Coventry (July 26, 1pm), home v Cardiff (August 2, 1pm), away v Christchurch (August 4, 7.45pm), away v Southampton (August 9, 11am).

Yes!! - It's so exciting isn't it ??. Back in pre-season training for a campaign in League 'Diddly' Two. I can hardly contain myself with all the excitement!!!.

What with a weakend squad without YOUNG, VOKES, GOWLING, or PERRETT (would have been useful if fit in League 'Diddly' Two). No FORDE (excellent keeper who we could have signed had we not been in administration), and yes - no GRADEL who excited us last season to a degree.

Yes we really HAVE kept the nucleaus of the successful side we built towards the end of last season - hav'nt we ?? !!1???!!!

OH ! and not forgetting no additions to the squad until we alledgedly come out of administartion just before the season starts after all the available quality players have been signed by other clubs!!

Of course according to some readers of these notes, I am talking a load of old Tosh - arn't I ??. After all - what I have just said is so untrue isn't it ????

Perhaps I should be banned as some clowns have suggested on this site - the truth always hurts !!

Regards - to all of you who CAN see the woods for the trees!!

The squad situation is a massive problem. Even after the club comes out of administration it will be up to the Football League when any transfer embargo is lifted. With the possibility of a 15 point deduction looming this could be really dark times.... The sad thing is the club could now be out of administration but JM has decided to side with this Savi geezer...An extremely ill judged decision made by a very genuine but desperate man... The only person doing well out of this is the administrator... Sad but true...

We are definetly short of players and with even a few injuries we will be struggling so time for Joe Roach's youngsters to have a run out.

Given Forde and Gradel were loanees, Vokes was always going to leave and the likes of young and Perrett were past it, we have done amazingly to retain so many players.

Regardless of the disgraceful off the pitch events i cant wait for the new seasonto start even if in a lower league.

I just hope we make it to the opening day!

Shminto, time to cheer up man or your going to do yourself an injury, we are in league two deal with it, we are still in administration deal with it, we have a smaller squad deal with it, jut be happy we have a team to watch in a few weeks time, not that you are going to do that any time soon after all as you keep on moaning about why would anyone support the cherries in league diddly 2, well sorry chump I will support the cherries in the wessex league, that's what being a supporter is all about it shouldn't matter what league we are in, and in 11 days just 11 days we can start to cheer the lads on again, football will come as a blessed release after all the nonsense this summer, so cheer up before you do yourself an injury, we do still have a team you know.

What is your problem pal - get a life!

Its always someone else with you isn't it. You need a dose of reality

Stop whining on without saying anything of any thought or substance. "Diddly" - so you won't be going? Good. There are people prepared to put their hard earned cash where their mouths are and trying to make it work. You add nothing.

This club has spent most of its existence playing so called diddly teams in diddly leagues, so I don't know where you have been all that time - probably Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge. And you know what - the football has generally been excellent.

Were you at the Millenium Stadium when we scored 5? No doubt that was diddly as well was it?

I would rather watch the Cherries playing entertaining football in the Wessex League than watch Arsenal or Chelsea winniung 1-0 in a cheat ridden premier match.

Look in the mirror and go find yourself a life.
Good luck!

My sentiments exactly, Shimpoo hasn't a clue what it means to be a real supporter, it's not about money or playing big teams it's about heart and I could never ever support another team no matter what league we are in, if he can't feel that way then he is not a real supporter, my blood is red and black and will be till the day I die UTCIAD.
