EVERTON reportedly want to hire former Cherries target Marcelo Bielsa as the replacement for the outgoing Frank Lampard.

Cherries looked into hiring the legendary Argentinian before offering their head coach role to then-interim Gary O’Neil in November.

After severe speculation following the Toffees’ 2-0 defeat to West Ham on Saturday, Lampard was let go from his role at Goodison Park late Monday evening.

The 44-year-old was in charge for less than a year in charge at Everton, keeping the Merseyside club up last year before finding themselves embroiled in another relegation dogfight.

A club statement read: “Everton Football Club can confirm that Frank Lampard has left his post as senior men’s first-team manager today.

“Everyone at Everton would like to thank Frank and his coaching staff for their service during what has been a challenging 12 months.

“Frank and his team’s commitment and dedication have been exemplary throughout their time at the club, but recent results and the current league position meant this difficult decision had to be taken. We wish Frank and all his backroom team well for their future in the game.

“The club has started the process to secure a new manager and will provide updates on the appointment in due course.”

Lampard’s coaching staff of Joe Edwards, Paul Clement, Ashley Cole and Chris Jones have followed the ex-Chelsea manager out of the club, whilst Alan Kelly will remain as goalkeeping coach.

Paul Tait and Leighton Baines will oversee training until a new manager is appointed.

Former Evertonian Wayne Rooney has also been linked to the job, whilst Sean Dyche is another favourite with the bookies.

Ex-Toffees boss David Moyes, who himself is under pressure at current club West Ham, is a further name mentioned in discussions regarding Lampard’s replacement.
