Ford happy with recalled Pirates duo

PIRATES co-promoter Matt Ford has expressed his satisfaction with the displays of recalled duo Magnus Zetterstrom and Daniel Davidsson.

Second string Zetterstrom and reserve Davidsson were drafted in earlier this month to replace out of sorts Karol Zabik and long-term injury victim Zibi Suchecki.

The pair, who lined up at Eastbourne and at Belle Vue, will face Ipswich in tonight's home clash after last week's Wimborne Road showdown with the Aces was hit by the weather.

Ford said: "They have both done exactly what I expected. They have only ridden a couple of away meetings and we sacrificed Daniel in his easy rides at Eastbourne because we felt Adam Scornicki would be better in those rides. Although we gave him the hard rides, he did it without any complaints and knew he had to take one for the team.

"Magnus was our trump card at Eastbourne and is doing his job. Anywhere between six to eight points is perfect."

Davidsson will switch berths with Adam Skornicki against the Witches as Pirates look to counter-act Ipswich's free-scoring reserve Piotr Swiderski.

Ford added: "They are running Swiderski at six and I'd just like Daniel to have a run around the outside because he's quite a good gater. Even if Adam is on the outside of Swiderski, I think that track knowledge can get him over on the first corner."

Ipswich arrive at Wimborne Road bidding to secure a sixth successive Elite League victory, while the Suffolk outfit will also be seeking to complete a hat-trick of away wins.

Meanwhile, to mark the Champions League final, all paying spectators will receive entry into a special draw to win either a signed Cristiano Ronaldo Manchester United shirt or a signed Chelsea shirt.

Pirates fans will also be able to obtain a signed version of Brian Crutcher's biography, written by Tom Wareham. Both the author and Crutcher will be on hand for a book signing.
