Zibi aiming for Friday comeback

INJURED Pirate Zbigniew Suchecki is fighting to be fit for their trip to Coventry on Friday.

The 23-year-old Poole Castle Cover reserve damaged muscles in his left shoulder when he fell heavily during a Polish League meeting on Sunday.

The injury has ruled Suchecki out of the Dorset club's home Elite League clash against the Bees tonight (7.30pm).

But he could be back for the return at Brandon if doctors at Gorzow hospital, where he is currently receiving physio treatment as an outpatient on a daily basis, give him the go ahead.

Suchecki, who crashed while riding for Poznan against Ostrow, said: "Fortunately, there are no broken bones, but I have muscle damage inside my left arm by my shoulder.

"It's not looking good but I'm trying to do everything possible to be at Coventry on Friday.

"I'm travelling from my home about five miles outside Gorzow to hospital in the city each day for treatment and I'll see what the doctor advises later in the week.

"If I don't make the Coventry meeting, my next one would be in Poland on Sunday. I'm trying to be back as fast as I can."

Suchecki, who missed Pirates' 48-45 loss at Lakeside on Friday through unavailability, added: "I crashed on the last corner of the last lap of my first race on Sunday.

"I went out for my next race but after I started I just managed to ride a couple of metres and then had to pull over on to the grass because I couldn't do anything with the bike.

"The pain in my arm was too much and I couldn't hold the handlebars properly.

"It's a pity I've sustained this injury because I'm happy with what I have done for Poole so far.

"I like Poole's track and riding in England is perfect for me.

"I'm really happy with my start there."
