AARON Ramsdale admits it "looked like the world had been lifted" off the shoulders of Callum Wilson after the striker broke his scoring drought, adding: "Now he's got a big Cheshire cat grin."

Wilson netted in the 3-1 win over Brighton on Tuesday night, bagging in the Premier League for the first time since September, a run of 1,319 minutes.

It also ended a six-game winless run in the top flight for Cherries in their battle to avoid relegation.

Asked what the atmosphere was like in the changing room after the victory, Ramsdale told the Daily Echo: "The lads were bouncing. Some lads looked like the world had been lifted off their shoulders, Callum especially.

"As much as he puts up a front of confidence, he’s our main man. With Kingy (Joshua King) out, he felt the pressure for sure and it’s a credit to him that he puts this front on. But now he’s got a big Cheshire cat grin and I’m delighted for him."

He added: "I'm delighted for Dom Solanke because yes he’s not scored any goals for us, but I think the fans have seen on Tuesday what he does for this team - flick ons, running into the ground, getting hold of the ball, link-up play and I think it was a long time coming for us that (win).

"It’s only a win at the end of the day, but in there it felt a lot more."
