EDDIE Howe said he would assess a decision whether or not to recall striker Sam Surridge nearer to the January transfer window.

The striker is currently on loan at Championship Swansea and scored in Sunday’s 5-1 away defeat at West Brom.

Cherries have seen frontman Joshua King ruled out with a hamstring problem for four games, while Callum Wilson was forced off with injury against Liverpool on Saturday.

Academy prospect Surridge joined the Swans on a season-long loan back in August, although Cherries do have the option to recall him in January.

Asked before the weekend’s fixtures whether that was something he would consider, Howe told the Daily Echo: “It’s something we will assess when we can make the decision. There is no point thinking about it now.

“Sam’s done well when he has played. He has had limited game time.

“But he has made an impact when he has played, he has made an impact off the bench, so I have been pleased with him.”
