CO-PROMOTER Danny Ford confirmed Brady Kurtz would miss Pirates’ bank holiday double header against Swindon.

The Aussie charger has been ruled out of both the home (noon) and away (7.30pm) fixtures against the Robins tomorrow.

Kurtz is waiting for the results of a scan on his shoulder after crashing during heat 13 of Pirates’ victory at Peterborough on Thursday.

Ipswich racer Richard Lawson will replace the Cowra-born star for tomorrow’s meeting at Wimborne Road, while Poole will be forced to use rider replacement for the away leg at Abbey Stadium.

Pirates will be looking for revenge against the Robins after suffering a humbling 53-37 home defeat in the Supporters’ Cup on Good Friday.

Ford told the club website: “Obviously it’s far from ideal being without Brady as he’s been in such incredible form this season so far.

“But the important thing is he rests up and gets back to full fitness.

“Richard Lawson is stepping in, which we are extremely grateful for but we’ll have to use rider replacement for Brady at Swindon in the evening, as every club apart from Ipswich is racing.

“Swindon are potent opposition at any time but going into two meetings against them without our most in-form rider makes it even tougher, so we really need the supporters behind us.

“I know if they bring the noise then that can help us get revenge for that defeat on Good Friday.”

The Robins will have new signing Ellis Perks in their ranks. He has replaced former Pirate and Dorset-based James Shanes at Blunsdon.

Discussing the switch, Swindon team boss Alun Rossiter said: “Ellis is doing well at Leicester and the big thing is that he’s popping out of the starts there, which is something we’ve been lacking at reserve.

“He has good equipment and whilst we have to emphasise it’s not going to be easy for anyone in that position with the way our team is made up, I feel he should be able to pick up some points for us.

“I’d like to thank James for his efforts. This league is very hard and it wasn’t doing his confidence any good to be finding things as tough as he was.”

Tobiasz Musielak also returns for Swindon following a shoulder injury.
