PHIL Simkin is hoping for more tears from chairman Bruce Scammell as Hamworthy United prepare for the biggest game in the club's history tomorrow.

Hammers host Blue Square South big-guns Eastleigh in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round at the County Ground (3pm), off the back of a nail-biting first qualifying round replay win at Southern League outfit Bishops Cleeve.

And Simkin, who admitted he was "choked up" over the performance in the Midlands, confessed another cup giant-killing could be too much for an emotional Scammell.

"I don't know about me getting a bit emotional, but I had the chairman on the pitch crying underneath about a dozen players," said Simkin.

"I've got to be honest and say Bishops Cleeve didn't treat us with too much respect at first and I guess by the time they realised, it was too late!

"It was a bit of a backs against the wall show in the second half and I've never seen so many crosses go into the box in my life but we defended really well. We're going to come under the cosh tomorrow as well, but defensively we've been great this year and we're always a threat at set-pieces.

"If we played Eastleigh 10 times, nine times they would probably beat us comprehensively. But it just might be our day tomorrow."

Simkin insists his Hammers charges are "not frightened" of the Spitfires, who parted company with first-team coach Phil Handford last week, following three defeats on the spin in the Blue Square South.

But with former Salisbury striker Paul Sales leading the Eastleigh line and ex-Cherries star Dani Rodrigues set to make his debut for David Hughes' side, Simkin's back line will have a busy day at the office.

Michael Dean will sit out tomorrow's tie with an achilles problem, but Simkin is "hopeful" over Nathan Walker, who has a groin niggle.
