AN OPENING stand of 60 between Matt King and Richard Payne ensured Bere Regis would cruise to a nine-wicket victory over Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League rivals Broadstone.
King (35) and Payne (30*), brother of Gloucestershire quickie David Payne, helped the hosts chase down Broadstone’s paltry 88 as Bere Regis completed a league double.
Luke Carter (27) and James Park (31) had earlier given Broadstone a 50-run first-wicket partnership before they suffered a collapse of seismic proportions.
Park’s departure came with the score on 74 for two – with 10-man Broadstone losing their last seven wickets for the addition of just 14 runs.
Sean Walbridge (4-18) led the rout with David Griffiths (3-5) and Payne (1-22) joining in the demolition job.
