EDDIE Howe hailed Callum Wilson’s “moment of brilliance” as the game-changer for Cherries.

The Dorset side trailed 1-0 with an hour played at London Stadium but striker Wilson slalomed through the West Ham defence to net a stunning solo equaliser.

Steve Cook’s header six minutes later proved the winner and boss Howe said the foundations for victory had been laid by Wilson.

“West Ham made it difficult for us in the first half and we didn’t weather the storm,” said Howe.

“We conceded the penalty and it was a long way back from that moment.

“Especially with the chances we created before we scored, you were thinking ‘how many more are we going to create which will be as good?’.

“Callum’s individual moment of brilliance swung the game in our favour. It was a great goal and a really good finish at the end of a very good run.

“That gave us the lift we needed and I fancied us from that point to win the game.”

Discussing Wilson and Joshua King’s improvement as a frontline pairing, Howe added: “Callum’s partnership with Joshua is showing real signs of developing in the way we wanted it to last season.

“There were some really good signs from them both. Callum had opportunities against West Ham and Joshua’s performance was very strong.”
