HAMWORTHY United manager Phil Simkin insists he knows "all about" Bournemouth Poppies ahead of tonight's mouth-watering Sydenhams Wessex League derby clash.

Poppies go into the Premier Division clash at the County Ground (7.45pm) boasting a perfect record of four wins out of four, but Simkin has promised his side will have a "good go".

"There's never any love lost in local derbies and I expect it to be a hard battle," said Simkin.

"We're looking to have a go. We know what we're up against, know what we've got to do and we'll have a good go."

Simkin isn't a manager who believes in focusing solely on his own side ahead of a game and he has done his homework on the unbeaten Poppies.

He said: "I always concentrate on the opposition and find out everything I can about them.

"I know the way they'll play and what their strengths are - I'll try to cancel them out.

"We're not going into it lacking confidence. It's going to be tough and we need to be at out best to get a result.

"We're not overawed and we'll surprise a few people this season."

Poppies boss James Wood has good reason to be confident going into the game, with his side one of only two teams in the league with 100 per cent records so far this season.

He said: "I'm looking forward to it - derby games always add spice."

Wood expects Hamworthy to represent Poppies' biggest challenge yet.

"Confidence is high on the back of four victories in the league but, no disrespect to people we've played, this will be our hardest test to date," said Wood.

"No matter what the league positions, it's always a hard-fought, difficult game."

Simkin isn't the only manager who's been busy doing homework, with Wood also knowing all about his side's opposition.

He said: "One thing we pride ourselves on is being as prepared as we can.

"We'll go in prepared, as we always are and hopefully there will be no surprises."

Hamworthy are still without injured trio Carl Chivers, Jack Swann and Michael Dean.
