GOALKEEPER Max Frampton spared Christchurch an FA Cup mauling as they crashed out at the hands of Brockenhurst in an extra preliminary round replay last night.

Frampton made a procession of the Priory man-of-the-match award by pulling off a string of outstanding saves to prevent the Badgers running up a cricket score.

However, he was powerless to stop efforts from James Thomson and Matt Sheedy either side of half-time earning Brock a 2-0 win at the MA Hart Stadium at Hurn Bridge.

Victory set up a trip to Hellenic League outfit Binfield in the preliminary round on August 25 and also banked Brock £2,250 in prize money, while Priory received £750 to partially soften the blow of defeat.

Christchurch host Wessex Premier rivals Sholing at Hurn Bridge on Friday (7.45pm).

Meanwhile, Ben Cooper’s double helped New Milton climb to second place in the embryonic Wessex One table following a 3-1 win over neighbours Ringwood at Fawcett’s Field.

Cooper opened the scoring in the second minute and restored Linnets’ lead from a free-kick just after the break with Lee Vint’s 33rd-minute penalty having made it 1-1.

A finely-taken third from Erickson Mukambi after 55 minutes put the hosts firmly in the driving seat before Tom Cole and Ben Harris both saw red for Ringwood for two yellow cards.

New Milton have won both of their opening two league games, while Ringwood have taken a point from their first three.
