BOSS Eddie Howe admitted he never again wanted to use Ryan Fraser as an emergency full-back after his electric start to the campaign.

The Scotland international put in a dazzling performance on the wing as Cherries romped to a 2-0 victory over Cardiff on Saturday.

Described as “the best player on the pitch” by Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock, Fraser opened his Premier League account for the season by netting after 24 minutes.

Injuries picked up by Adam Smith and Simon Francis last season saw the 24-year-old stand in as defensive cover against the likes of Stoke and Watford.

But Howe insisted he wanted the former Aberdeen ace to be causing problems in the attacking third rather than having to sit back.

He told the Daily Echo: “I wouldn’t want to play Ryan at full-back again. Not to say that I might not use him at wing-back because I thought he did that role really well.

“But it wouldn’t be my first thought for him. He’s an attacking player and I want to see him scoring, creating and assisting goals.

“That’s what I want for Ryan and that’s what he wants so we are really pleased for him.”

Meanwhile, the FA has confirmed it is investigating an allegation that objects were thrown at Cherries players from an area of Vitality Stadium where Cardiff fans were housed.
