BOSS Matty Holmes believes Wimborne Town’s trio of new recruits will help take them to the next level.

Magpies have snapped up former Cherries youngster Jordan Lee, ex-Poole star Lewis Tallack and former AFC Totton man Curtis Young.

All three are expected to line up when Wimborne make the trip to Farnborough in Southern League South on Saturday (3pm).

A 25 per cent increase in playing budget thanks to new sponsors has helped the club bolster their squad, which will compete at step three of the non-league pyramid for the first time.

Holmes told the Daily Echo: “The new lads we have funded to come in have been through local sponsors, which has kept our wage bill down.

“It’s a great credit to the sponsors who love the football club otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to get them in.

“The wage bill had to go up because the boys did so well last season – whether we had stayed in the same league or gone up.

“With the quality and the depth we have now, it’s exciting times and we are really hopeful the boys stay fit and challenge each other for starting positions.”
