CHERRIES boss Eddie Howe said he had no plans to draft in goalkeeping cover in the wake of Aaron Ramsdale sustaining an injury.

Ramsdale is currently in plaster after damaging his thumb in training and could be sidelined for around three months.

The 20-year-old stopper, who is back up to Asmir Begovic and Artur Boruc, played no part in Cherries’ pre-season campaign.

Howe said he would turn to Jordan Holmes, Mark Travers or Will Dennis for cover rather than bringing in another goalkeeper ahead of the closing of the transfer window.

“Aaron has hurt his thumb and is in plaster,” Howe told the Daily Echo. “He is going to be out for around three months. We wish him a speedy recovery.”

An £800,000 buy from Sheffield United in January 2017, Ramsdale helped England win the European Under-19 Championship last summer and the Toulon Tournament in May.

He spent the second half of last season on loan to Chesterfield and made 19 appearances in League Two for the relegated Spireites.

Ramsdale was on the bench for Cherries' Premier League clashes at Everton in September and at Leicester on the final day of the 2016-17 season.
