NATHAN Walker’s second-half double earned Hamworthy United their first Wessex Premier win of the season.

The former Dorchester Town centre-half stuck twice in 13 minutes to earn his side a 2-1 home triumph over Bashley at the Specsavers County Ground.

Dan Munday had given Bash an early lead after just 13 minutes and also hit the crossbar at the end of the opening period.

Brad Strickland’s saved penalty for the visitors then proved costly, as Walker made them pay to give Hammers their first competitive triumph under boss Callum Brooks.

Elsewhere, Ron Frost and Steve Flynn struck for Poppies in their 2-1 victory over Portland United at Victoria Park.

The Blues had taken the lead through Jamie Beasley before Frost levelled from the penalty spot after 42 minutes.

And Flynn netted the winner in first-half stoppage time to ensure Poppies were unbeaten in their opening two league fixtures.
