GOALS from Real Betis stars Ryad Boudebouz and Loren Moron meant Cherries fell to their second defeat of pre-season.

Eddie Howe’s men were beaten 2-0 by their La Liga opposition at Vitality Stadium after a mistake from goalkeeper Artur Boruc, who failed to clear his lines, offered up the opportunity to Algerian Boudebouz on 17 minutes.

And Moron rubber-stamped the victory in second-half stoppage time after latching on to Joaquin’s neat chip to slot home a second.

The hosts had chances through Jermain Defoe and Jordon Ibe but failed to find the net against the Europa League qualifiers.

Cherries named new recruit Diego Rico in their matchday squad for the first time in front of the home crowd.

He had previously featured in Tuesday’s behind-closed-doors friendly against French Ligue 1 outfit Amiens.

Rico’s last game for former club Leganes came against Betis when he was sent off after just 23 minutes in La Liga back in May.

The visitors included former Barcelona defender Marc Bartra in their starting XI, as well as ex-Everton stopper Joel Robles.

A bright start from the Spanish side allowed them to fashion three early corners before central midfielder Victor Camarasa blazed over in the opening exchanges.

Visiting skipper Antonio Barragan then fed Boudebouz, who failed to keep his curling shot down after going in search of the far corner.

For all their slick passing and possession play in the opening 17 minutes, Betis broke the deadlock with a routine ball over the top.

After racing off his line, Boruc failed to clear Bartra’s lofted through ball, allowing Boudebouz the simplest of tasks to cut inside and stroke into an empty net.

Winger Ibe went close in reply for the hosts three minutes later. After running at the Betis backline, his low left-foot drive was gathered by keeper Robles.

Algerian Boudebouz continued to cause problems however, his deflected effort fell into the hands of Boruc after Harry Arter had lost possession in a dangerous area.

Cherries did have opportunities to level during the opening period. Ibe’s free-kick was gathered at the second attempt after Jermain Defoe had cleverly drawn a foul on the counter.

Former Liverpool man Ibe then should have made it 1-1 11 minutes before the interval. He was first to react after Defoe’s drilled effort was pushed wide by the keeper.

But the winger’s attempt to turn home from point blank range was clutched at the near post by Robles.

Betis again showed their threat from wide areas with Boudebouz crossing for Junior Firpo at the back post. His header was parried away by Boruc, with Sanabria unable to tap home the rebound.

With a change of shape to a back three for Cherries in the second period, Rico moved to wing-back and showed his threat on the attack.

After neatly bringing down a switch of play, the former Real Zaragoza star stung the palms of Robles after surging down the flank.

A sublime piece of attacking play from the visitors almost doubled their lead on 52 minutes.

Boudebouz chipped out wide for Barragan, whose cross was met by a well-struck overhead kick from Sanabria - the strike narrowly going over.

Cherries almost got their leveller when Defoe turned Aissa Mandi inside out before dragging the ball just wide of the far post.

That was as good as it got for the hosts however, as Betis added a second with virtually the final kick of the game.

Veteran Joaquin found substitute Moron, who placed into the bottom corner for 2-0.
