BROADSTONE Middle School claimed a dramatic victory in the inaugural Trethowans Solicitors-sponsored Poole Speedway Soccer Trophy final at Wimborne Road.

They lifted the silverware after winning 4-2 on penalties against Heatherlands, with the teams deadlocked at 1-1 after 40 minutes of action in front of a healthy crowd.

Pirates promoter Matt Ford told the club website: “It was a great game and I really couldn’t pick a winner between two evenly-matched sides.

“Congratulations to both Broadstone and Heatherlands for their performances in the final, they were both superb.

“The competition has been a great success and there will be more schools entering next year.

“I’d like to thank all the schools who entered this season’s tournament and also Trethowans Solicitors for making the competition possible.”
