PROMOTER Matt Ford is hoping Chris Harris will hit the ground running in Volvo Cars Poole Pirates' crucial SGB Premiership double-header next week.

Ford last week swooped for the Cornishman as a replacement for Linus Sundstrom after the Swede had requested to be taken out of the firing line.

And with Harris, who is nicknamed Bomber, available following the demise of Rye House, Ford wasted no time in securing the former Coventry man’s signature.

The 35-year-old, a three-time Elite League winner with the Bees, is set to make his Poole debut at King’s Lynn on Monday before facing Leicester at Wimborne Road on Wednesday.

Ford told the club website: “Everyone knows I have always been a huge fan of Chris and would love to have signed him before now if we could have made the team-building work.

“He is the ultimate competitor and will give us an extra steel as we look to continue a good run of form and start moving up the table.”

Both Pirates and King's Lynn are outside the play-off shake-up ahead of their clash at the Adrian Flux Arena but the hosts have also made a change since they faced Poole at Wimborne Road in June, with Jason Garrity stepping in for the injured Lewis Kerr.

British champion Robert Lambert goes into the meeting on the back of his appearance in tomorrow's British Grand Prix in Cardiff and is in imperious form, having been beaten by an opponent just twice at the Adrian Flux Arena this season.

Stars: Niels-Kristian Iversen, Jason Garrity, Michael Palm Toft, Thomas Jorgensen, Robert Lambert, Simon Lambert, Ty Proctor.

Pirates: Brady Kurtz, Josh Grajczonek, Kacper Woryna, Richie Worrall, Chris Harris, Frederik Jakobsen, Nicolai Klindt.
