GENOA'S Uruguayan international Diego Laxalt is the latest player to be linked with a move to Cherries.

The Sun claims Cherries and Everton are set to battle it out for the 25-year-old who starred for his country at the World Cup.

It is suggested the 25-year-old, who is also reportedly a target for Crystal Palace, would command a fee of around £18 million.

Versatile Laxalt, who began his career with Defensor Sporting Club, caught the eye for Uruguay at left-back as they reached the quarter-finals.

He moved to Inter Milan in 2013 for a fee in the region of £2million but did not feature for the Italian club before joining Genoa for £5m three years later.

Laxalt, who has made more than 100 appearances for Genoa, is the third left-back to have been linked with Cherries this summer.

The Daily Mail last week said Cherries were "continuing talks" with Leganes' Diego Rico, while Celtic's Kieran Tierney was another reported target.

Charlie Daniels has been Cherries' first-choice left-back since joining the club from Orient for £175,000 in November 2011.
