DORSET star Georgia Hall dropped out of contention on the final day of the LPGA Volvik Championship.

The Wimborne-based professional had started her fourth round four shots off the lead at the Travis Pointe Country Club in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

But a one over par final round of 73 meant the 22-year-old slipped back to a tie for 24th place – nine shots adrift of winner Minjee Lee.

After a level par opening nine, three bogeys in four holes saw the former Canford Kid lose ground on the leaders.

She fought back with an eagle on the par five 14th before a bogey on the 17th put her a shot further behind.

Making birdie on the 18th ensured Hall finished inside the top 25 and banked more than £8,500 in prize money.

The world number 36 is part of a star-studded field competing at this week's US Women's Open, which begins on Thursday.
